Ammolite is the fossilized shell of prehistoric sea creatures called Ammonites.

During the day of the dinosaurs, ammonites lived in all of the Earths oceans.  At that time, the Bear Claw Sea was an inland sea in what is now Alberta, Canada.

 When the dinosaurs went extinct, so did the Ammonites.  Their bodies fell to the ocean floor and over the millennium, the sea dried up and filled in with sediment.

It is the chemical and mineral content of this sediment that created the vast color varieties Ammolite can be found in today.
